Moving to New Worship Location in January
I announced a few weeks ago that beginning on January 22, 2023, we will begin meeting for weekly worship at Prince of Peace Lutheran School (8306 Old Keene Mill Rd, Springfield, VA 22152). I want to share a bit more detail about how we (me and the building team) came to find our new space, what I am excited about in this new space, a timeline for the move, and how you have the opportunity to help us get there.
Food Drive
This Fall we will partner with Food Justice DMV to serve immigrants and refugees who are experiencing food insecurity. Immigrants and asylum seekers have risked so much to get here and the pandemic has shined a light on the inequality about who gets to eat. Food Justice DMV serves thousands of households in Virginia on a hyper local level and we have the opportunity to donate items that will go directly into the hands of households near us that need them most.
Pastoral Letter: Where do we go from here?
The final chapter of Exodus gives me great hope as a church planter. God cares deeply that his people are formed in worship, and yet His glory fills the tabernacle which is constantly on the move. He cares about detail and reverence, and less about permanence. There have been several places where I feel like we’ve lifted up the tabernacle and moved to the next spot in the short history of our church.
Join us: Season of Lent
This is our first opportunity as a church plant to celebrate the entirety of Lent together! Here is a brief description of Lent, our sermon series, and opportunities to participate.
How we Keep Organized: Planning Center Online
One of the great joys of worshipping as an Anglican is the ways that the service is so participatory. When we look at the many of the service roles that make up a Sunday morning (reading, greeting, setting up, A/V, children’s ministry, etc), we can see how challenging this can be to organize. To keep track of these things we use Planning Center Online Services.
