CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Welcome to children’s ministry at Corpus Christi Anglican Church. Children are always welcome in the service! We love having kids in the service (including all their wiggles, laughs, joyful noises, and all other noises). They are a beloved part of this intergenerational church! We also have some offerings for them during the service as well.

From September through mid-May: For ages 0-2 we offer nursery from the time the service begins through the passing of the peace. All children are in the service for communion. For ages 3-9 we offer a program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). Catechesis of the Good Shepherd happens weekly between September and May with intermittent Sundays where the children stay in the service. Read below to learn more about child safety, CGS, and how to serve with our youngest disciples at CCAC.

From mid-May through August: During the summer months, our nursery is available for ages 0-4. Otherwise, children are in the service. We have bags for the kids with various activities and the kids are invited to the “children’s sermon” at the beginning of the sermon time. The kids in nursery come back for communion.

1) CHILD SAFETY AT CORPUS CHRISTI ANGLICAN CHURCH

In our church, we have 6 steps to keep children safe:

  1. Awareness;

  2. Screening;

  3. Training;

  4. Interacting appropriately;

  5. Monitoring and supervising; and

  6. Responding and reporting.

    These are outlined further on pages 9ff. our Diocesan safeguarding policy.

2) Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (September through May)

CGS creates space for children to learn how to pray through the church’s liturgy. We have such a great opportunity to disciple children ages 3-9 in an age-appropriate, exploratory way: CGS allows the child to explore the truths of God, their Good Shepherd, through all their senses, through the Scriptures, and through the Church’s worship. We offer level one of CGS for ages 3-5 and level 2 for ages 6-9. You may be wondering what happens during CGS in the atrium (which is the classroom name in CGS). Rather than describe it in words, I’d encourage you to watch the video below:

3) HOW TO GET INVOLVED

As a trained leader, there are opportunities to serve alongside one of our catechists, or even to become a catechist! To begin the process of serving our little ones, please fill out the children’s ministry application with the button below:
